The speed will determine how fast the data can be written on the CD/DVD disc. It is independent of the type of drive. Typically, 8x speed can write a DVD disc in approximately 8-13 minutes; 16x speed can write a DVD disc in approximately 4-7 minutes; 24x speed can write a DVD disc in approximately 3-4 minutes.
