Extremely durable Advanced Metal Evaporated (AME) media provides extraordinary reliability and a virtually contamination-free environment reducing the need for periodic cleaning. A 64Kbit memory chip built into the data cartridge offers sophisticated data access capability providing high-speed file location and file access. Super Head Cleaner provides an automated cleaning solution and increases head life and reduces the need for periodic cleaning. Adaptive Lossless Data Compression (ALDC) provides greater data compression efficiency and offers average compression of 2.6: 1. Helical Scan Recording writes the tape in one pass with a slow tape speed and allows higher recording densities than linear recording - it reduces wear-and-tear on the data cartridge and drive, increasing reliability, head life, and storage capacity within a compact form-factor.
